Moscow/Russia

Background / Challenges

This gated community in the north of Moscow was a target for various criminal activities over a many months. Although the entire facility was fenced and despite the fact that there were always a minimum of two security guards on site at the entering barrier, various monitoring errors happened. These incidents were the reason for our customer to look for a system to support the security staff with view to a more professional prevention and detection of criminal activities in this community. The task was to implement a system covering lighting, video surveillance, video recording, customized analytics and alarm systems.

An access road leading through a forest and a generally low quality of the actual lighting poles presented another major challenge in the project planning.

An autonomous system for monitoring was to be implemented in order to have a very limited risk in case of power failure.

OWLS Solution

To meet the customer requirements, OWLS carried out a thorough site inspection; we evaluated the particular characteristics of the area and presented a detailed feasibility report

OWLS consequently structured, planned, engineered and installed with our local partner a complete replacement of the actual street lighting system with the OWLS ATHINA Safe City solution. This was done in combination with an Ethernet connection and professional control-room handling

The project now consists of totally 45 units of ATHINA LEDrofit 48 street lamps, that include 20 invisibly embedded SONY SNC-EP550 IP PTZ cameras, a control room with 2 x 42” screens, video storage, various automatically operating customized analytic processes in exact coordination with the customer’s expectations, video backup, and a license plate recognition system at entrance and exit.
